Assistant Varsity Coach
Jana Tobin
Coach Jana Tobin enters her twelfth year as an assistant girls’ basketball coach at BVSW. While serving as the varsity assistant, the team advanced to the State Championship game in 2015 and 2019. In addition to coaching basketball, she is one of the Gifted Education teachers and serves on the BV District Gifted Education Leadership Team.
Prior to working at Blue Valley Southwest, Tobin was an assistant coach at Blue Valley West for eight years. During that time, BVW made two State Tournament appearances. Additionally, she taught mathematics and worked with the Jag Mentors. Tobin also served as the Head Girls’ Basketball Coach at Gardner-Edgerton High School from 1995-1999. In 2000, she was selected as the Gardner-Edgerton Secondary Teacher of the Year while teaching mathematics. Tobin played basketball at the collegiate level at Ottawa University and received All-State recognition while playing at Wellsville High School. In 2015, Tobin completed her Gifted Education Certification through Emporia State University. She earned a Master of Arts in Teaching at Baker University in 2003 and Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Ottawa University in 1991. Family life is very important to Tobin as she has been married to her husband, Joe, for 18 years. Their daughter, Reese, enjoys playing basketball and track. The Tobin’s love vacationing in Florida and watching a variety of sports. |
